Jobs Report Confirms: This Is Not Working
In November, the 35th month since the recession began:
- The unemployment rate went up from 9.6% to 9.8%.
- Overall job growth, including private and public sectors was 39,000, a pitifully small number compared to previous, post-recession recoveries.
If the 2010 rate of job growth continues, it will take another six years to replace all the 8.4 million jobs that were lost in 2008 and 2009. Even then the misery won’t be over because the number of working age Americans who want jobs will have grown by about 7 million.
Massive government borrowing, spending and intervention in the private sector has failed to restore the jobs lost in the recession, where the Reagan approach of deregulation, lower taxes and greater liberty succeeded spectacularly.
It’s long past time to cancel this failed experiment in authoritarian government. It’s time to reduce government intervention and restore respect for the Constitution.
All eyes are on the reinvigorated Republican Party. The 112th Congress convenes in January. Weary, liberty loving people all across the nation will hope and pray that wisdom replaces arrogance.
