ObamaNomics: Promise Jobs but Grab Power
President Obama’s first Borrow-and-Spend initiative, was the Trillion Dollar…
“BIG Stimulus to Save Jobs” (BS2SJ).
Obama Promises jobs but delivers only massive debt and loss of liberty.
Congress passed the BS2SJ on February 13, Obama’s 24th day in office.
Obama and the media hyped the BS2SJ, the largest spending bill in history, as an urgent measure to immediately halt job losses. It was so urgent there was no time for any Congressman or Senator to read and analyze the thousand page bill.
Today, the Department of Labor published the results of its monthly survey of employers. Layoffs exceeded new hires by 663,000 jobs during the month of March. As the chart shows, the promised decrease in job elimination has not happened since passage of the BS2SJ, February 13.
Yesterday, the House and Senate both passed President Obama’s proposed $3.6 Trillion Dollar budget for the 2010 fiscal year that begins October 1, 2009.
This budget, plus 2010 spending from the BS2SJ add up to a 38% spending increase and a 180% deficit increase over the last budget President Bush submitted to Congress, just one year ago. And this is from the President who made “irresponsible Bush deficits” a major campaign issue!
Most of the increase is for major energy, education and health care initiatives President Obama began promoting at the start of his campaign three years ago, long before anyone knew there would be a major recession.
Even though these initiatives are not new and were not developed in response to the spike in job losses since December, Obama and the Democrats are now telling us all this spending is necessary “to save jobs.”
Appearing on Fox News to make the Administration’s case Congressman Joe Sestak was asked how the Democrats could, in good conscience, “lay this huge deficit off on the next generation.” He answered:
The best thing we can do right now is to put as much government spending as possible at the appropriate level to stop the hemorrhaging of jobs.
In response to a later question he repeated, almost hysterically, the Administration’s continuous propaganda slogan, chanted by all Democrats to answer any objections to the President’s gargantuan borrowing and spending plans:
We’ve got to stop the hemorrhaging of jobs!
This is standard political propaganda. Justify the permanent expansion of government power and the resulting new restrictions on liberty by tying the legislation to the immediate concern voters are most anxious about today. And today, we’re all anxious about jobs and income. The truth is massive government spending on new permanent programs will destroy jobs, not save them.
Three weeks ago, the President and most of Congress rushed to the TV cameras to voice their outrage over the AIG bonuses. Compared to the Obama Borrowing-Spending juggernaut, this was like the father who borrows $350,000 to buy himself a new Bentley Brooklands scolding his son for asking for a $20 skateboard.
The Bottom Line:
In response to the leaked news of the AIG bonuses, which were authorized by the BS2SJ, Obama and the Democrats demanded “accountability on Wall Street.” Well, it’s time for America to demand accountability in government.
Only seven weeks ago we were sold the Big Stimulus to SAVE JOBS, including permanent expansion in government power and cost. Apparently, the media have already forgotten the promise of saving jobs because there has been almost no reporting on the results.
The budget resolution Congress passed yesterday is not the final word on next year’s spending. There will now be months of budget hearings to produce several “appropriations” bills to implement the budget resolution.
Thus, we voters still have time to object and urge our representatives to block this unprecedented expansion in government power and debt. It’s time to tell the politicians we are not duped by their “jobs” promises.
In a few days Liberty Works will provide an opportunity for our readers to sign up and make their voices heard by their Representatives in Congress.

And what do the Republicans offer to save jobs?
NOTHING!
You Republicans are the party of the big NO. Thats all you are.
Its too soon for the stimulus to begin working. these things don’t take effect in one week. your chart doesn’t prove anything except Bush sat on his hands for months, doing nothing while the economy imploded.
Actually, Chuck, a reasonable stimulus program was put forth. The basic element was:
1. A cut in payroll taxes offset by a present value neutral carbon tax.
2. Funding of the truley “shovel ready” and infrastructure appropriate (no green BS) projects.
This was put forth by economist Greg Mankiw (Bush economic advisor) and would have been immediately effective. Like day 1, and revenue neutral.
I’m not surprised you didn’t know about this. Your posts have shown you to be pretty a much a no nothing moron.
But thank you for playing.
