ObamaCare Update: Raise Taxes to Lower Prices
Here’s a hot idea from the latest version of ObamaCare legislation. This looks like the political version of a perpetual motion machine.
To accomplish the advertised goal of ObamaCare, more medical services available to more people at lower cost, the legislation would impose new federal taxes (called “fees”) on health care insurers and medical providers!
- $6 Billion on insurance companies,
- $4 Billion on medical-device makers,
- $2.3 Bilion on drug makers,
- $750 Million on clinical laboratories.
What an amazing concept! Make health insurance cheaper by whacking insurance companies with additional taxes!
Why limit this economic miracle to health care? Why not make everything more affordable with new federal taxes?
- Let’s hit Apple with an additional tax so we can all have cheaper iphones;
- Let’s help General Motors sell cars at lower prices by forcing it to pay new fees to the government;
- Baseball tickets are too expensive for low income fans to afford. Why not lower those prices by slapping on a new, per ticket tax?
