Nancy Pelosi: Huckster of the House
According to insider reports, Speaker Pelosi faces a divided Democratic party and can’t muster the 218 votes she needs to pass the House version of ObamaCare, including a new government owned and operated insurance company.
Democrats know most Americans, for good reason, distrust massive government run schemes, so they’ve tried to minimize the blow-back by pasting a lipstick label on their government run insurance pig:
“the public option.”
But six months of acrimonious debate and chaos in Congress have made cynics of even the most naive citizens. Some 40 – 50 Democrats believe their constituents will dump them next Novermber if they vote yes on”the public option.
On Tuesday Ms. Pelosi stiffened her spine and hit the issue head on: As she emerged from yet another, contentious, Democrat caucus meeting on health care she announced a brand new label for the government run insurance company:
“the consumer option.”
Said Ms. Pelosi:
It’s not really a public option, it’s a consumer option. As we’re mandating that people buy insurance we are saying to them, you have leverage, you have another choice. This is your consumer option.
Oops! She forgot to contrive a misleading term to substitute for “mandating that people buy insurance.”

How’s this: you vill buy insurance we “offer” you, und you vill LIKE IT !!”
This whole thing is bizarre. The insurance industry is in fact highly competitive. The single uncompetitive fact is that insurance cannot be sold across state lines. And who opposes this? DEMOCRATS!!!!
I want one person, any person, to tell me how more people will be covered, more benefits given, with lowered premiums and not reduce the modest profits of private insureres. And so this of course means that the “public option” will become the only option………..and will suffer cost overruns………..and will then ration care.
Only the boneheads do not understand this.
