The internet is buzzing with speculation that Barrack Obama will soon have to confront another embarrassing revelation: It is rumored that Reverend Wright is a former Muslim. Based on his recent writings and speeches he does seem to be share some of the opinions of the radical Muslim leaders in the Middle East
On the website of the Pickens County, Georgia Democratic Party is this copy of a year old article in The New Republic that claims Reverend Wright is “a former Muslim and black nationalist.” Today, the article can’t be found at the New Republic site and apparently has been taken down.
Bizzyblog.com has posted a copy of “The Pastor’s Page” from the United Trinity Church bulletin of July 22, 2007. The whole page is a reprint of an essay by Mousa Abu Marzook, a Hamas official, originally printed in the Los Angeles Times. Marzook regurgitates the usual, tedious Palestinian revision of history, denies Israel’s right to exist, and defends Hamas violence and terrorism:
“…our militant stance cannot by itself be a disqualifying factor as many armed struggles have historically resulted in a place at the table of nations.”
Marzook also says the State of Israel is a
“monstrous crime carried out by Israel’s founders and continued by its deformed modern apartheid state…”
Pretty virulent stuff to be coming from your Pastor, in the Sunday church bulletin!
Reverend Wright has, himself, been a vessel for anti-Israel propaganda. In this Message, archived at the website of Chicago Metropolitan Association, he calls for a “divestment campaign” against banks and business that do business with Israel. Wright seems to share the anti-Israel sentiments of Muslim theocracies in places like Iran and Syria.
It has been widely reported already that Pastor Wright is a supporter of Louis Farrakhan, the anti-semitic head of The Nation of Islam. Farrakhan has called Judiasm “a gutter religion” and said Jews are “bloodsuckers.” in 1984 Wright and Farrakhan went to visit Libya’s thug-leader, Col. Muammar al-Gadaffi, an outspoken enemy of both Israel and America. Farrakhan was the 2007 winner of the “Rev. dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer” award, in a ceremony at the Trinity United Church of Christ’s “Trumpet Gala.”
No candidate who openly sides with the Palestinians over Israel can win the Presidency in America. The Democratic Party especially depends on a high percentage of the Jewish vote. If the candidate at the top of the ticket is perceived as sympathetic to Muslim Israel-haters, the cost to the party could include the loss of dozens of House and Senate seats.
It will be interesting to see where all this goes. Will the media herd show any interest? Will Obama’s silver tongue carry him through another Rev. Wright eruption?
