The Promise of Politically Driven Health Care
President Obama kicked off his sales campaign for government health care yesterday, with a Town Hall meeting in Green Bay, Wesconsin. As expected he enumerated all the complaints anyone has ever expressed about health insurance and health care, including the government programs. He then promised that a massive expansion of regulation, yet another government health insurance program, and Trillions in new spending would, somehow, resolve all those complaints and save a whole lot of money for employers, individuals and government. He made these promises even though the actual legislation hasn’t even been written!
Before we allow Congress to contrive more Unconstitutional government health care intervention, on top of Medicare, Medicaid and the existing layers of regulations, we should take a second look at President Obama’s first big, Unconstitutional intervention, the $787 Billion stimulus or “recovery plan.” The promise was that if Congress enacted the “recovery plan” immediately, job losses would decrease immediately. Unemployment would be limited to no more than 7.9%. Congress passed the measure just three weeks after Obama was inaugurated, in an atmosphere of dramatic urgency.
.

But, but … “Obama is like God.” He can spend money that doesn’t exist, heal the sick, and bring peace to the world!
